Since its founding in 2007, the law firm of John R. B. Long, P.C. has served clients across the states of Georgia and South Carolina. Located in historic Augusta, Georgia, we strive to help our clients assess and achieve their legal needs. We primarily specialize in civil litigation and family law, however our expertise in multiple practice areas allows us to perform real estate closings, draft wills and trust agreements, and assist clients in many other types of transactions. We also handle appellate cases, in both the Court of Appeals and Supreme Court of Georgia.  While many of our clients are located in the Augusta, Georgia area, we are licensed in all courts in Georgia, South Carolina, and Washington, D.C. to assist a diverse group of clients in different jurisdictions.

T E A M

JOHN R.B. ("JACK") LONG was born in Augusta, Georgia where he has lived almost entirely since birth.  

 

Jack attended high school in Augusta, and has studied abroad at Cambridge College in England as well as The American School in Switzerland.  He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Georgia in 2003.  He thereafter attended Mercer University Walter F. George School of Law in Macon, Georgia, where he received his Juris Doctor in 2006.  

 

Jack is licensed to practice law in Georgia, South Carolina, and Washington, D.C., and as been admitted to practice in all Georgia and South Carolina State, Superior, and Circuit Courts, the Court of Appeals of Georgia and the Georgia Supreme Court, as well as the United States District Courts for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Georgia and the United States Supreme Court. 


Jack has a general litigation practice, with a focus in general civil litigation and family law/domestic relations cases.  His practice also includes a significant appellate practice, having successfully represented many clients on appeal and

generated numerous reported decisions from the Georgia Supreme Court and Court of Appeals.  He also has considerable experience in transactional matters including residential and commercial real estate closings, domestication of foreign judgments, and the preparation of will and trust documents.  Jack regularly volunteers civil and domestic pro bono service to client referrals from the Georgia Legal Services Program, as well as accepts appointment of indigent misdemeanor and felony criminal matters in Federal District Court and in South Carolina state courts.

 

Over the past several years, Jack has actively served the Young Lawyers of Augusta and the State Bar of Georgia. Since 2010, Jack has served as a leader in numerous roles within the State Bar of Georgia, having most recently served as President of the State Bar of Georgia Young Lawyers Division in 2015-16 and on the State Bar of Georgia Executive Committee from 2014-2017. He has also served on the Executive Committee of the Young Lawyers of Augusta since 2009, and has previously served as President of that organization.
